High Heat Tape Company is a manufacturer of non adhesive wire harness tape for automotive and industrial cable bundles. The dry PVC or vinyl film is wrapped in a controlled spiral so each turn grips the previous layer without adhesive touching the cable jacket. This keeps inspection, rerouting and repair cleaner, with no glue transfer after the bundle is opened. Black restoration-style grades, slit widths and roll formats can be matched to different harness layouts.

Product Overview
Our dry vinyl wire harness tape is intended for bundling and routing, not permanent adhesive bonding. It follows cable runs through bends, breakout legs and confined spaces while keeping the loom tidy and serviceable. Typical film thickness is 0.10-0.13 mm. Common slit widths are 16-32 mm, with finished-roll references of 33-40 m. Final dimensions should be checked against bundle diameter, branch layout and wrapping speed.
Before approval, test the wrap on the actual cable jacket, whether PVC, XLPE / XPE, PE or another specified insulation. Review unwind feel, bend conformability and finished-end stability. Reopen the bundle after a 24 h dwell and any required aging cycle. Check for film narrowing, loose ends, discoloration, surface softening or unexpected residue. Keep an approved roll as a retained sample for repeat orders.

Application
- Automotive dashboard, cabin and restoration wiring harnesses
- Machinery control cable bundles requiring flexible PVC wire harness wrap tape
- Prototype harnesses that may need later adjustment
- Branch lines, short cable runs and irregular loom shapes
- Industrial wiring harnesses where clean removal matters
- Selected vehicle areas after confirming the required temperature grade
How Should Dry Harness Tape Be Wrapped Around Branches and Tight Bends?
Apply the non adhesive harness wrapping tape in a steady spiral with a consistent semi-overlap. A 40-60% overlap is a useful trial starting point, then adjust it to suit bundle diameter, bend radius and required flexibility. Smaller breakout legs are usually wrapped first with a narrower width. Around tight bends, use enough tension to keep the wrap compact without pulling so hard that the film narrows or the loom stiffens. Check the finish near connectors, branch points and maintenance-access areas.

Benefits
- Keeps cable jackets cleaner because no pressure-sensitive adhesive contacts the insulation.
- Provides a residue free cable bundle wrap for serviceable harnesses and prototype adjustments.
- Makes wire replacement and rerouting easier when a bundle needs to be reopened.
- Stays flexible around bends, branch points and uneven cable groups.
- Allows width selection according to harness diameter, wrapping speed and branch complexity.
- Creates a smooth black restoration-style finish for vintage and OEM-inspired harness appearance.
- Supports repeat-order checks through retained samples and trial-roll comparison.
When Is Non-Adhesive Harness Wrap More Practical Than Adhesive Tape or a Self-Fusing Grade?
For cable bundles that may need inspection or rerouting, a self clinging harness wrap tape is often more practical because it can be removed without glue transfer. Dry PVC wrap works well where flexible routing and a neat restoration-style finish matter. Adhesive electrical tape has a different role when pressure-sensitive bonding is required. A self-fusing silicone or rubber grade should be specified separately when the project needs a fused protective layer or local sealing function.
FAQ
Does non adhesive wire harness tape leave residue on cable jackets?
No pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied to the jacket. Removal cleanliness should still be checked on the actual insulation after the required dwell time and aging condition.
Can the tape be used for machine wrapping?
Machine-wrapping grades are available. Confirm unwind force, core size, winding direction and roll format before production.
Is black the only available color?
Black is the common restoration-style option. Other colors can be reviewed where identification is required.
How should repeat orders be checked?
Keep an approved retained sample and compare thickness, slit width, unwind behavior, wrap stability and removal cleanliness before releasing a repeat batch.
